The Challenge...

Michael Kemp and Amanda Phillips set themselves the challenge to drive from Texas to the southern tip of South America. They estimated that the expedition would last approximately 12 months but after 8 months they had achieved their goal, having made it to the end of the road in Tierra del Fuego and up to Buenos Aires, where the expedition ended on 1 March 2001, at least for now…

Latin American Challenge supports the work of two charities, The MS Society and Rainforest Concern. A secondary aim of the expedition was to raise money for these charities (Fundraising and Events). Whilst in Ecuador Michael and Amanda visited two different projects supported by Rainforest Concern, Yachana Lodge in the Ecuadorian Amazon and Santa Lucia Cloud Forest Reserve.

Accounts of the 8 month expedition are recorded in Expedition Chronicle. Further articles and photos about their experiences will be available to read soon.
