Route
Given
countless unpredictable situations that we may encounter in Latin
America, it is not realistic to have a rigid itinerary. However
the following details give a rough idea of the route the team will be
taking.
The
expedition team will fly out to met the vehicle which will be shipped
from England to Jacksonville, USA, from where the driving will
begin. After a short stay in the USA to complete final
preparations the team will cross the border into Mexico.
From here the journey will take them to the following countries in
Central America:
 |
Belize |
 |
Guatemala |
 |
El
Salvador |
 |
Honduras |
 |
Nicaragua |
 |
Costa
Rica |
 |
Panama |
The
vehicle will then be shipped across the Darien Gap to Cartagena in
Colombia. Commencing the land journey once again, the intention is
to take an anti-clockwise route through South America. The team
will head south through the mountainous region of western Colombia to
the capital of Ecuador, Quito. After a stay at the Maquipicuna
Lodge, and some conservation work, the expedition will
continue south along the Andes into Peru and onwards to the following
countries:
 |
Bolivia |
 |
Chile |
After
visiting Tierra Del Fuego, the southern tip of the sub continent, the
expedition will head north along the eastern side of South America experiencing
the cultures of:
 |
Argentina |
 |
Uruguay |
 |
Paraguay |
 |
Brazil |
From
Belem the expedition vehicle and team will be ferried along the Amazon
River to Manaus. From here the Pan American Highway will take them
up into the last country, Venezuela, where, after a well deserved rest
on the Caribbean coast, the vehicle and team will return home to the UK. |
