Camping Madness in Cancun
August 2000

Unwillingly having to spend a couple of days in Cancun, we headed for the youth hostel as the cheapest option in town. After pitching our tents by the beach, the resident drunk Gerry, who we were told was harmless, declared his love to the girls. At first easy to laugh off, he became increasingly intimidating and eventually quite hostile and abusive. Not wanting to spend the night there, with this nutter wandering around, we took the tents down and made a quick escape. The youth hostel still wanted to charge us 20 pesos per person just for using their showers! The seemingly had no regard for the safety of their guests as they made no attempt to rectify the situation. To our knowledge the "Jackyl and Hyde" that is Gerry still wanders at the youth hostel, so beware!
